F.A.Q.

Where are you located?

N.F. Company is located in the garment district of Montréal, Quebec, Canada.

What garments do you specialize in making?

We have experience making all types of garments from wedding dresses to leather jackets. However, our specialty is in sewing garments out of woven fabrics - shirts, jackets, and pants made of canvas, twill, and denim. At this time, we do not work with knit fabrics.

Are your products USMCA compliant?

We can create products under our ready-made program that are 100% USMCA compliant. The fabrics are sourced from the USA, the buttons from Mexico, and the thread from Canada. Cutting and sewing all takes place in our Montréal factory.

What type of dyeing options are available?

For artisanal dyeing in small batches (including natural dyes) we have a sample sized dye lab in our factory. For larger orders, or using our prepared for garment dye garments, we have a partner dye house in our neighbourhood.

What is your Minimum Order Quantity?

As a studio catering to other small businesses we intentionally keep our MOQs low. For the Readymade program our MOQ is 10 units per style per colour, and for the Artisanal program there is no MOQ. Please keep in mind, that developing new products under our Artisanal program has a much longer lead time due to the specialty work involved including pattern making, fit testing, and custom dyeing.

Can I bring my own pattern?

Often times if you are working from a home-made paper pattern we can use that as a reference when drafting a production ready pattern. If your pattern has been made using a professional pattern making software with the pattern pieces walked and notched we may be able to use it.

Do you keep any fabric in stock?

We keep some staple woven fabrics in stock including 14 oz raw denim, 12 oz prepared for dye canvas, and 10 oz twills in white, black, navy, and medium grey.

How does custom embroidery work?

If you have a logo or artwork that you wish to embroider we can help with our industrial Tajima embroidery machine. Just send us your artwork in vector format and we will convert it to an embroidery file.

Can I visit your factory?

If you would like to visit our factory to view our Readymade products or talk about product development please Contact Us to set up a meeting.

Which machines do you have?

Our goal is to offer the quality and expertise of a larger factory while still catering to smaller businesses. In order to offer this level of quality, the right machinery is essential. Our sewing machines include an electronic bartack, waistband, feed off the arm, needle feed, button sewing, keyhole and lockstitch buttonhole, blind stitch, kick press for snaps and rivets, and more.

How long does it take to get garments made?

Readymade garments are usually ready for much shorter lead times on production since extensive pattern making and sample making are not required. On average readymade production takes 2-4 weeks. Artisanal garments can have longer lead times depending on the complexity of the garment being made, and how busy the sample makers are with other work. Rush jobs can be completed for an additional charge.
